Birds in the Land of the Bible
By Uzi Paz
Photography: Yossi Eshbol
The Jewish sages said, "The Land of Israel is at the center of the world, and Jerusalem is at the center of the Land of Israel." Israel is indeed a crossroad from birds from distant lands. They come from all points of the compass: northern Europe, the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, the steppes of Asia, Siberia, the Indian subcontinent, tropical Africa and the Sahara desert.
Birds is the Land of the Bible is a bright photographic essay with interesting and easy to understand information on the birds found in Israel - from full time residents to wintering migrant birds.
