On Shabbat evening after lighting the candles and after reciting the blessing of the wine, the blessing over the Challah, a special braided bread, is recited.
There is a special order what kind of food has to be blessed first: Bread before wine. Since on Shabbat we first of all sanctify this day with the wine one covers the bread as if it was not there and recites the blessing over the wine. Afterwards one reveals the bread and recites this blessing.
