Yom HaZikaron and Yom HaAtzmaut: The Hope Endures
Israel, a tiny country surrounded by enemies and originally covered with desert in the south and swamps in the north. In the 65 years since the modern State of Israel gained independence, this small country has turned the land lush and accomplished remarkable achievements that have influenced the world. We celebrate the amazing country we call Israel with two special days. The first is Yom HaZikaron, Memorial Day after which Israel transitions to Yom HaAtzmaut, Israeli Independence Day.

Holocaust Remembrance Day - The Importance of Discussion
Yom HaShoah is Holocaust Remembrance Day and is the day on which we make a special effort to remember the Holocaust and honor its victims, survivors and heroes. To the survivors the Holocaust remains an ever-present horrifying testament to the depths of evilness. For some others the Holocaust may seem like a distant part of history. It can even seem impossible that these horrendous events occurred. Remembering the Holocaust is the responsibility of everyone with a conscience. It is our duty to make sure it does not ever happen again, not only to Jews but to any oppressed minority. The fight against ignorance is a constant battle and one we cannot afford to lose. The best defense to ignorance is of course education.
