Located on the shore of the Sea of Galilee in northern Israel, the team at JesusBoat.com has been working with Pilgrims to the Holy Land for more than 20 years. We understand the love for Israel our customers carry in their hearts. Every purchase made through our website, JesusBoat.com, contributes to the success of the Biblical born-again nation of Israel.
The Jesus Boat Store was founded by two families living the the Galilee. The business has grown to a retail and on-line store with 35 staff members. Staff members have come togethre from all over the world to bring you great team bring the Holy Land to you.
Why The Jesus Boat?
You might be wondering why we are called “JesusBoat.com” – it is a curious name. Our name comes from an important archaeological discovery that was made right here in the Galilee.
In 1986 Moshe and Yuval Lufan, brothers and fishermen from Kibbutz Ginosar, discovered an ancient boat buried in the mud near the shore of the Sea of Galilee. The Lufan brothers notified the Israel Antiquities Authority and an exciting marathon archaeological excavation commenced. The fragile ancient boat was carefully extracted from the mud and brought to shore for conservation and study.
The discovery of the ancient boat rocked the archaeological and spiritual world. Never before was such an ancient vessel found so complete. Through scientific
dating, the ancient boat was positively dated to the First Century C.E. Once the boat was positively dated to the time of Jesus, pilgrims from around the world flocked to view the boat which could have been the very same vessel on which Jesus sailed the Sea of Galilee. Subsequently, the Ancient Galilee Boat has come to be known as the Jesus Boat.
